Every year, 420.000 people die of poisoned food and the world contains a food waste that corresponds to the size of a crop area in China. The Minister of Environment and Food Esben Lunde Larsen seeks to address these challenges. Therefore, the Minister invites political decision makers, industry leaders, experts, and gastronomy frontrunners the World Food Conference – Better food for more people in Copenhagen from 30 -31. August 2018. As something new this year, the food summit will be expanded with a new forum in Bella Center Copenhagen.

- The UN Sustainability Development Goals have brought the world together on a joint agenda. The goals can thus be used as a lever for the development of new innovative solutions. In order to solve global challenges, we need everyone to shoulder responsibility to create solutions, says Esben Lunde Larsen.

- The World Food Summit – Better Food for More People is a platform where we can address these issues with participants from all across the world. We need to get more people involved in finding solutions and therefore I will for the third year in a row host the Summit in Copenhagen .

The goal is to gather multiple stakeholders in the food sector in order to create cooperation on sustainable food solutions and join the discussion on ensuring better food for more people. In connection with the multi-stakeholder platform in Bella Center, an innovative food exhibition, Bite Copenhagen, is held. The exhibition brings together about 120 innovative companies and entrepreneurs from all over the world to present their ideas of the future's sustainable gastronomy trends.

- After a good start in 2017, we are ready this year with the complete international food platform where knowledge and exhibition merge and gives visitors many forms of knowledge and inspiration. The exhibition and platform will respond to the UN's sustainability goals by presenting innovative and creative solutions of Danish and foreign companies, says Allan L. Agerholm, CEO of BC Hospitality Group, including Bella Center Copenhagen.
