Side activities

This year’s World Food Summit 2018 will include a series of side activities:

  • A food exhibition that showcases innovation and knowhow concerning the summits focus on global food challenges,
  • a case competition,
  • an official dinner,
  • a big potluck in the center of Copenhagen and
  • Food trips - excursions to large- and small-scale food producers

A food exhibition, ”Bite Copenhagen”
Bite Copenhagen is the new global B2B platform for showcasing quality food products and innovations that create solutions to the global challenges ensuring better food for more people. At Bite Copenhagen exhibitors from all over the world showcase their products. Each exhibitor is unique and visitors can first-hand experience the newest in gastronomy: technology, superfoods, sustainable eating, organic produce, veganism, climate protection and much more. Bite Copenhagen is taking place on 30-31 of August 2018 in Bella Center.

Case Competition
Top students from all over the world will get together to help enlighten how to ensure better food for more people.  Students can bring their bright ideas on how to solve the challenges related to the urbanization and gastronomy and aspire to leave their mark on the policy of tomorrow. The program provides a chance to build cross-cultural relationships.

Potluck
In addition to the Summit the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food is organizing a potluck – a social dinner for 200 people in Copenhagen on 28th August 2018. The goal is to show how food and culinary experiences can be a driver for creating a wider understanding between cultures, and how food can bring people together in finding solutions to the challenges we face in the global society. During the potluck top chefs will perform creative and inspirational food diversity cooking, and discuss how gastronomy can help create better food for more people.

Official dinner
An official summit dinner will take place on 29th August 2018 at Copenhagen City Hall. The National Culinary Team of Denmark will be making a Nordic style dinner.

Food trips
In addition to the World Food Summit, we invite international participants and their travelling staff to experience the Danish food industry first hand on various food trips. We visit farmers, food and beverage companies, food ingredients companies, food innovators, and many more.  While discovering the areas outside of Copenhagen, the food trips give an unique firsthand experience of both large and small scale farmers and food producers in Denmark while at the same time creating an inspiring stepping stone for discussing global food matters at the World Food Summit.The food trips will  take place on 29th August 2018.
